What You Need to Know About the InfantSEE® Program

Eye care is for everyone, regardless of age or income bracket. Such is the belief of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and The Vision Care Institute of Johnson and Johnson Vision Care, Inc. (TVCI), which is why they established the InfantSEE® program. Your eye doctor discusses this program below.

What Exactly Is the InfantSEE® program?

InfantSEE is the brainchild of AOA and TVCI. It is a nationwide public health program that aims to provide free, professional eye care to infants between six to 12 months of age. One-time comprehensive vision exams and other relevant eye assessments will be conducted by volunteer optometrists. The assessment process will determine whether your child’s vision is developing normally or if corrections and treatments are necessary.

What Will They Check For?

The eye doctor will mainly test to check whether your child is at risk of developing any of the following:

Infants should undergo their first comprehensive eye exam once they reach six months of age. At this point, your baby’s ability to perceive depth develops. It is also during this time that eye-body coordination progresses. This is a crucial time for your baby’s vision development, and you need the expertise of a trusted and licensed eye doctor to ensure your child’s vision develops properly without delay or impediments.

Alderwood Optical is a proud member of the American Optometric Association. We share their belief that everyone should have access to quality eye care, which is why we enrolled to be an InfantSEE provider.
